Did a bit of painting in the summer! The painting is of a baby photo of my friend with her brother and sister. She asked me to do it in hope of giving it to her dad as a father’s day present. Mark’s a lege so I thought why not.
I much prefer painting in black and white. And it turns out I painted the faces more confidently than I could draw them, I tried time and time again to draw their faces out first as an outline however it just did not look right, it wasn’t until I painted them did they start to take better shape. I think I’ll do portraits again!
Having hit summer and wanting to relax for a while, I feel I haven’t done much work, or perhaps done anything just for myself?
This picture is one of my favourites, it’s an installation by Chiharu Shiota and was in the exhibition ‘Walking in My Mind’, I first saw it as glimpse a couple of years back now and its pretty much haunted me since. I’ve attempted incorpoarting string into my work a couple of times now and I’m still really interested in working with it further. Just wait and see :)
Here is some of my life drawing work. I really like just sitting and drawing

A piece of initial concept art for the witch’s castle, made in photoshop. This is quite a traditional design with the turrets and towers, I ended up going down a different route deciding to use the shapes and angles of an igloo as inspirtion for my mock set.
Again myself and fellow animator joined forces in a one day stop motion brief. The class had to split up into twos and design a character with concept art and diagrams of how a wire armature would fit inside it which we had to pitch to the class at the end of the day.
Each pair where given to main features to incorporate into their character, ours was OAP and Noble Hero. The other groups had Little red riding hood evil villain, Robin Hood Femme Fatale, King Arthur Bimbo.
We had a great time designing our character and really showed how much work we can achieve in such a short period of time. Her name is Justice she is an oriental lollipop lady who nobley serves the community in a High vis Kimono and matching crocs.
